Erewhon Twice Rice-

July 8, 2009 by azodicooz
I’m so excited, when I was gluten-free foods, so even my wheat man loves food. It is frustrating that half the food in our house is unfit for me, but two cereals Erewhon Rice is as good as my husband packs of granola and raisins, its on the refrigerator no longer makes me sad.

Erewhon Twice Rice grains is an expression of traditional crispy rice cereal. It is a source of strength with the two pieces of fresh and organic brown rice, organic-brown rice syrup, honey, salt and sea, and has enough interesting things to smooth, without any excessive dose sugar first thing in the morning (only 8 grams per service). A portion of 3 / 4 cup and 120 calories.

It is sliced banana or fruit for breakfast. I also spray some on my yogurt for a snack in the afternoon. Plus, it is fun to say “twice the rice.”

Save Money on Cereal & Breakfast Items

July 3, 2009 by azodicooz

Save Money on Cereal & Breakfast Items

Tip # 1 - Cereal can be a great bargain food when purchased on sale and/or with a coupon, but if it’s not on sale don’t buy it!!

Tip # 2 - It’s often cheaper to buy the smaller boxes of cereal, whether on sale and/or with a coupon or not.  The cereal companies know we like to buy in bulk so the bigger boxes can sometimes be priced at a higher amount per ounce!

Tip # 3 - Bacon, sausage and other breakfast meats can be purchased in bulk when on sale and stored in the freezer!

Tip # 4 - Try cutting bacon strips in half (before cooking) so everyone will eat less – while feeling like they’re eating more.

Tip # 5 - Grits are a wonderful economical breakfast food and can be found in the cereal section next to the oatmeal.  At least throughout the South. ;o)

Tip # 6 - DON’T waste your money on those little ‘quick and easy’ packages of oatmeal and cream of wheat, just make the real stuff yourself.  Not only will you save money, but the real stuff tastes soooooo much better!

Tip # 7 - Eggs are also a very inexpensive breakfast food…

Tip # 8 -  Many grocery stores offer special sales on cereal (either 2 for $4.00, 2 for $5.00, or my all time favorite, “Buy 1/Get 1 Free”).  These sales will often change each week so if you or your children like boxed cereals be on the lookout for when your favorite brands go on sale and buy a little extra.  Note: “Buy 1/Get 1 Free” sales usually have a limit of 2 free items, but you can always visit the store more than once if necessary.

Tip # 9 - And don’t forget you can use two coupons with each of these special sales, unless the coupon requires you to purchase two boxes.  In this case, you can use two coupons and buy four boxes… for the “Buy 1/Get 1 Free sale you’ll get two boxes for free and the other two at a great price!

Tip # 10 -  Bagged cereals are also a great buy, especially when compared to purchasing boxed cereals at regular price.  If you’re unsure just compare the ounces on each package to see what I mean.  And if you get them at a discount store like we do, you’ll save even more!

Thanks good article.

Miso Soup

misosoup_hero.jpgThis vegetarian soup is great for warming you up on cold winter days; although it\’s light, it\’s satisfying and nourishing. Makes four large or six smaller servings.
Steps:
1. Cut the tofu into 1/2-inch-thick slices and stack between two paper towels. Place the stack between two plates and weight the top plate with a heavy pot or cast-iron skillet.
2. Allow to drain for 30 minutes. (Image 1)
3. Bring a small pan with 2 c. water to a simmer and add the shiitakes to it. (Image 2)
4. Allow to simmer for 2 minutes and then remove from heat. Let the shiitakes soak in the water for 15 minutes.
5. Bring the carrots and broth to a boil in a large pot. Lower the heat to medium and cook for 9 minutes.
6. Meanwhile, remove the shiitakes from the soaking water. Strain the water into the carrots and broth.
7. Slice the shiitakes into thin strips and add to the pot. (Image 3)
8. Add the bok choy and pepper to the pot and cook for about 4 minutes.
9. Cut the tofu into small cubes. (Image 4)
10. Take 1/2 c. of the broth and mix it in a separate bowl with the miso, until smooth. Add this mixture back to the pot along with the tofu and reduce the heat to medium-low.
11. Cook for another 3 minutes and then serve, garnished with the green onion, sesame oil and seeds.
Tips:
Different misos – red, brown, and yellow are the most common – taste different. In general, the darker the miso, the stronger it is. Experiment with different kinds to see which you like best.
Look for miso in the refrigerated section of a supermarket or Asian market. (Wherever you find tofu, that\’s likely where you\’ll find the miso.)
You can use chicken broth instead of the vegetable broth.
In Japan, miso soup is eaten for breakfast.
